Bhavan's New Science College

New Science College, presently under the management of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, was started in 1956 by the Nutan Vidya Samithi, an association comprising a band of young teachers under the chairmanship of Late Dr.G.S.Melkote and the leadership of Mr.C.Sudarshan, an eminent educationist. The college had the rare distinction of being one of only two colleges having the B.Sc.(Hons.) Programme. The college was also the first among private colleges to have started M.Sc., in Applied Electronics in 1973 and M.Sc., in Biological Sciences in 1974. The latter was bifurcated into M.Sc., Botany and M.Sc., Zoology in 1984. Keeping pace with the tremendous spurt in the area of information Technology, the college started the BCA course in 1998 and also restructured self financing courses in both Mathematics(Maths, Electronics and Computer Science) and Biological Sciences (Genetics, Chemistry and Computer Applications). In addition, Microbiology, a subject with great scope and future is being offered at the UG level
