The college of physiotherapy was established in the year 1999, at a time when there was a need for paramedical courses, and there were very few institutions offering Physiotherapy course. To address this need college of Physiotherapy was started in the year 1999 by Durga Bai Deshmukh Hospital & Research Center, Andhra Mahila Sabha with a batch of 50 students offering Batchelor?s Degree in Physiotherapy, for a four and half year course affiliated to NTR university of Health sciences. Ever since its inception, the college has the distinction of excelling in academics and with in short span of its origin, acquired a reputation as being one of the best colleges not only in twin cities but also in the entire state of Andhra Pradesh. From a modest beginning the college has grown in size and now has strength of 400 students and 14 qualified Physiotherapists in addition to the Administrative and support staff. The college has started with an Under Graduate programme and Post Graduate Programme in the current academic year 2007-2008 with different specialties like PT Orthopedics, PT neurology, PT sports Medicine and PT Cardio Thoracic Medicine.
